Bir kenti gezintiye ,geçmişinden başlamak gerekir genelde ;kaleler,müzeler,camiler... 14.yüzyılda yapıldığı sanılar Rize kalesi kentin güneybatısında 140 metre yükseklikte bir tepede yer almaktadır.16.yüzyıl yapıları olan İslampaşa ve Gülbahar Sultab camii'lerini gezdikten sonra Rize Müzesine düşer yolunuz.Müzede bulunan Hitit,Roma,Bizans dönemine ait etno-grafik eserler,farklı dönemlere ait gümüş,bakır,bronz sikkeler ve yöresel kıyafetler sayesinde birçok şey öğrenirsiniz kentin kültürü ve tarihi hakkında.

Rize fortress was built in the southwest part of the city at a height of 140 meters,on top of a hill.After a visit paid to  the Islam Pasha and Gulbahar Sultan Mosques both structures from 16th century,you may want to fint your way to Rize Museum.The ethnographic pieces of art from the era of Hittites,Romans and Byzantine  as well as silver,copper and gold coins belonging to different  historical times and the regional costumes will teach you a lot about the culture and history of the city.
